There are many great restaurants in Valencia, but the difficulty is to find a good restaurant with a nice atmosphere and with not only tourists, but also some local people. These restaurants normally are not listed in the common and well known travel guides. Therefore you can find here a selection of some good restaurants. Restaurante Arribar
Description
Restaurant Arribar has a large variety of rice and fish dishes, among others fish croquets, different kinds of Paella, and for example Dorado. This restaurant is located at the harbor where the America’s Cup Sail race took place. The owner of the restaurant also works in the restaurant and if you are lucky he sings some songs after lunch. You can sit inside or outside and you will have a very nice view over the harbor and the beach. The tables look great with the white table linen.
Prices
A price indication of for example a Paella Valencia (minimum 2 persons) is € 13,50 per person.
Recommendations
The Paella Valenciana is really worth trying, because it is one of the specialties of Valencia. Furthermore the sea bass in salt can be recommended.

Restaurante Cervecería La Principal
Description
Restaurante Cervecería La Principal is a combination of a restaurant and a bar. You can have a drink and a bite at the bar or you can have an extensive dinner. The decoration is mainly modern, but there are as well some authentic Spanish details.
Price
Due to the large variety of food, there is a large price variation. This restaurant in Valencia offers from “Ensaladilla Rusa” (Russian salad with, among others potatoes, tuna, green peas, carrots) till a fish in a layer of salt, that will be taken out of the salt next to your table by the waiter.
Recommendations
You can choose to start with some tapas and then go for a main course. Due to that the tapas are that good, you might want to choose for only tapas. The homemade croquettes, the “Ensaladía Rusa” and the Steak Tartar are definitely worth trying. The fish in salt can be recommended as main course.

Restaurante Submarino
Description
Restaurant Submarino has got a large variety of fish and shell-fish. Due to that the restaurant is surrounded by a beautiful large aquarium, it feels like you are dining in the deep sea. Next to you are swimming many different kinds of fishes, while you are enjoying delicious food and a good glass of wine. In the restaurant are different places, where you can have a drink before you have dinner.

In case you might choose for a “tasting” menu, it will approximately cost you € 45,-.

Sagardi
Description
Sagardi has got a large bar with many types of pinchos downstairs. Pinchos are a piece of bread with a topping on it. You can ask at the bar for a plate and you can get the pinchos you like. You have to keep the sticks, because if you want to pay, they count the number of sticks you have. On the first floor you have also the possibility to have dinner.

The price depends on, if you choose for some pinchos at the bar downstairs or if you are going to have dinner upstairs in the restaurant.
Recommendations
Especially during the busy hours, they are also making some warm pinchos and these are really worth trying.

Description
The menu card of restaurant La Sucursal is in Mediterranean style. Furthermore, this restaurant also has got a large variety of wines. The decoration is quite modern and minimalistic. Due to that they made use of small black screens, there is a high level of privacy.

Palace Fesol
Description
Palace Fesol offers typical Valencian dishes, among others different types of rice, but also fish and meat dishes. Also offers Palace Fesol a large diversity of starters, among others Jamon de Bellota (high quality ham), Valencian tomatoes with tuna and olive oil, croquets with ham and poultry, a variety of cheeses and much more.
Atmosphere
Restaurant Palace Fesol started in the year 1909 and now is already more than 100 years old. Palace Fesol is a nice restaurant with various typical Valencian specialties.
Recommendations
Fideua is a typical Valencian dish (see rice dishes “Arroces”). Fideua is a kind of pasta, it looks like short vermicelli strings or small thin pieces of spaghetti.

El Alto de Colon
Description
Chefkok Quique Barella Alvarez and his team renew many traditional dishes in their innovative cuisine. They keep developing and at the same time try to reach the highest level of quality and innovation.
Atmosphere
El Alto de Colon is located at the top floor of the Mercado Colon. The restaurant has got a beautiful mosaic ceiling that dates back to the beginning of the last century. The white linen on the tables gives a very stylish contrast.

La pequeña Pulpería
Description
La pequeña Pulpería is famous for, as the name already says her Pulpo, or octopus. But there are more dishes on the menu, like different types of tapas. Furthermore you can find a large variety of pinchos (slice of bread with a topping) on the bar.
Atmosphere
La pequeña pulpería has got big and high windows through which a lot of light comes inside. The atmosphere is nice and cosy due to all the wooden details and the decorations.
Recommendations
The Pulpo can be really recommended, especially at this place.

TXOKO
Description
TXOKO is a nice Basque taberna which has a large variety of dishes, among others some typical Basque dishes.
Atmosphere
Due to the dark wooden tables and chairs, the light fall inside, the texts that are written on the windows and the ham, has TXOKO got a very cosy atmosphere. This taberna also exists of a big terrace with shadow during lunch. This is an ideal place to have lunch or dinner close to the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias.
Recommendations
Normally you can already see some fresh products demonstrated in the display window like fish and shell-fishes. Furthermore, a ración (a portion) of ham is definitely a recommendation. During the warm summer months you can also ask if they have gazpacho.
